First Restless Night of Many To Come

Poor Annabelle, she spent the whole afternoon feeding but still could not get enough food in her tummy. Mommy tried and tried, from one breast to the other and back again but her body was not prepared for the amount of food baby Annabelle needed. As Annabelle kept trying, her frustration began to show. Her jaws were getting tired from 10 hrs of sucking. Becoming more cranky and tired, Annabelle cries to let us know she's not getting enough food.
It's 2am, after hours of on and off crying the neighbours are also getting restless. After some debate and a final attempt at breast feeding, we decide that formula is needed to give Annabelle the food she needs to pass the night. Rather than by bottle, she is fed by cup to not get her used to any other type of sucking. The first ounce is finished and for the moment, Annabelle has had enough as she is burped and now soothed.
Mom and Dad get ready for bed but then the crying begins again. Has the hunger returned so, quickly? Mommy tries to breastfeed once more and Annabelle tries eagarly to feed again, but frustration soon returns.
The nurse hears little Annabelle cry again and rushes over to help with another formula feeding, diaper change, feeding and burp. Baby Annabelle's hunger is finally satisfied and soon falls into a peaceful sleep. Mom and Dad are also finally able to rest for the night as well. At least until 6 in the morning, when baby wakes up again and the cycle begins once more.

Congrats! What a little beauty, she looks like she is tall, or is that just the camera angle? And Grace don't look tired at all in any of the photos, a little TOO good if you asked me! :)

Congratulations on your beautiful daughter. Enjoy every precious second as it all goes by in a blur. I know you will be getting advice overload from everyone including stragers, but I just had to put my two cents in after reading your entry on the "restless night"....Soothers can be a wonderful thing!
